Spider-Man

A comic book episode. Took us long enough. This week we take a look at the evolution of Spider-man, the movies, the television shows, the merchandise, and the other silly bits. We also take a look at a variety of Top 5 lists with regards to Spider-man, but that's a little bit later. New guest host Alex introduces himself to the show. Mike finally gets to correct all our mistakes. Dom decides it'd be a good time to hit his testicles. And Kevin may have had too much to drink. And it's all wrapped up into a delectable burrito-sized geek discussion.

Intro Music: Spider-Man Theme Song by the S-Words.

Outro Music: Costume Montage by Danny Elfman/Spider-Man Theme Song

Edit: The war that Flash Thompson returns from in Brand New Day is the Iraq war.

  1. Dom says:

Fancy Dan, Ox, and Montana! That's what they were!

  2. Jeff says:

I can't wait to listen to this tomorrow (it's damn late [or early] here in New York!), if only to see how you got Dom's Touching Games into a podcast about Spider-Man.

    • Geoff says:

Great podcast Lita and company. And if there are two things we can be certain that will always end up in the podcast and tags (aside from the hosts and their names) are Sean Connery, and Dom's Touching Games.

I know Sean Connery was not specifically mentioned, but he was referenced, so it should count.

  3. Chris says:

Great episode, little surprised that you didn't mention the new animated series, have none of you seen it?

  4. seiya says:

Flash Thompson apparently was in the Iraq War, not the Vietnam War.

Great job guys, although that Alex guy is kinda suspicious.

    • suberunker says:

Yep. Soon afterwards I even remembered without looking it up (and hence why it's in the edit postscript). I kept thinking that everything went back in time rather than all of the past being brought to the present.

  5. Andy says:

I'm surprised that "Damn, you Dom!" isn't a tag for every single podcast.

My first though at hearing this one was "Oh hey, they all knew the Spider-Man theme song?" Then the answer to that was at the end...

  6. Some notes: Batman in Brave & the Bold is voiced by K.Diedrich Bader (I thought it was D.Diedrich Baker... all the right letters, just not the right order XD), who played Oswald in the Drew Carey Show. He was -not- in Spongebob; I mixed that up with an interview with Diedrich where he talks about Tom Kenny (voice of Spongebob).

    re: Civil War
I've been thinking about what I said, how Iron Man gave Spider-Man all the right reasons. Now that I've had time to choose my words, I'd like to revise that statement: Tony gave Peter all the -smart- reasons (pro-registration), and Steve gave Peter all the -right- reasons (anti-registration).

    • Jeff says:

Damn. After that, I don't know if I want to go to my local nerd store and get some comics, or if I want to go to the library and grab some Mark Twain.

      • Do both! Captain America wants YOU...to read Mark Twain.

There's also a Dee Bradley Baker who does voices on B:BtB (lots of villains, plus Etrigan), who was definitely on Spongebob (multiple roles). And just to tie it back to topic, he's the voice of Curt Connors aka the Lizard in The Spectacular Spider-man (the new series mentioned above by Chris).

  7. Chris Nguyen says:

Haha, the Elektra quip - very cute >=P. Jennifer Garner was very nice to look at though...

  8. Shiroi Kaze says:

There was something I remember from my Humanities lectures long ago... about why maybe the first Spider-Man movie did really well. The 9/11 wound was still fresh, Spider-Man filled in the void in peoples' hearts that particular event had left...
