Hahaha! I was guessing this was the "secret" topic planned. Downloading now~
I was teaching at a junior high in Japan during the Haruhi craze, so I never got to see people do the Haruhi dance live (it died out pretty quickly). But they released the full dance routine choreography on the webpage before it showed up on the DVDs, because a lot of high schools and colleges wanted to do it for their school festivals in the fall.
They actually had the Haruhi light novels available for borrowing at the school library at the junior high school, so I saw kids carrying them around. Was kind of surreal.
Most of what you say here is correct, and it is saddening that more people here in the US havent seen it...
