Hey there, S-Words listeners. Kevin will be attending Otakon, but has no idea where to do a meetup. Any suggestions? Hopefully an easy place to get a quick snack and a decent amount of seating? Pins will be distro-ed there! (or just try finding my bag with the tiny pins on them)
I'll also be tweeting my location every once in a while through my Twitter account.
sadly, this is only my first time to Otakon, so i have no suggestions, and i have no way to access twitter for the con, so i'll be on the lookout for that bag.
There's a foodcourt near the convention center. There's a walkway that conects the foodcourt to the convention center which also makes traveling easier.
The one issue is that *that* food court gets packed like hell from 11-2 every day.
I guess that's true, and it's going to be crowded from the minute it opens to the second it closes as well so it might not be that good.
I wish the Otakon website would put up a list of places to eat around the con. If I still had my con guide from last year they had a map with food places all over the place.
Unless I've gone mad and it's never existed there should be a giant metal modern art sculpture outside the con. People could meet there and then move on to a food place after that. It's on the corner of Pratt and Sharp Street.
I believe this is the map: http://www.otakon.com/images_content/location_map.jpg
Any of these places a good choice?
1. You can always ask them for panel space.
2. Failing that, the place for hangout is just left of the main escalator - at least, in 2001 and 2002. It's a bit more...packed...now, or so I hear.
3. Ask Dom. He's been there enough.
4. Off-site. You'll have to leave messages for everyone to find you, but Otakon's getting to the point where there are considerations made for the wishes of the Baltimore Fire Department, so meeting somewhere that will not cause a sudden traffic blockage can be a good thing.
The submission for panel space has been gone for a while. Even then, we don't need panel space as I doubt there'd be that many listeners at Otakon.
I don't believe there will be a traffic blockage for a simple meetup like this, but am I just underestimating things?
doesn't have to. just be conveniently placed.
