This week we return to discuss more video games, specifically the Sim Game series that was popularized by Maxis Games. We go through our first Sim games, the simulation game series, and our Top 3 Sim games. Enjoy our return! (Somehow we also talk about Inspector Gadget.)
Intro/Outro Music: Various Songs from Sim City 2000.
Good to hear you back, mates!
O-ho! I didn't know that this involved SimCity, I love that game.
Yay for sims shenanigans.
Also what's going to happen to the South Park and Kevin Smith episodes that were scheduled before the laptop was stolen?
We lost the South Park recording as well as Stuff 30. Kevin Smith will be bumped back.
I have bad memories with Sims 2. The night after I got it, I puked on the floor. The next day my brothers were playing it in my room and didn't stop at all.
SimCity's awesome, though. I also remember Sim Theme Park, but I noticed you didn't mention that at all. Anyway, another awesome episode! I may go play SimCity later because of it...
Aww...but that shouldn't stop you from loving such a wonderfully fantastic game!
I love the entire main series. SimCity's great too but I mostly just liked to wreak havoc and destruction on my city so...>_>
I guess. If someone gives me a good enough reason and if I ever have the money I may try it again.
> The night after I got it, I puked on the floor.
A note to everyone, imitating what your sim does when you trap it in a room is likely a bad idea!
Aww, no Harvest Moon love?
Good to see you guys back again! Great episode, I had SimCity 2000 and I want to find it again and play it now. I also laughed my head off at the horrible scenarios you described for the Sims, especially the Indian Burial Ground thing.
Hey, Marathon RED.
That's good to hear, I actually really like the story. It's still one of the prime Marathon Total Conversions out there.
Story? What story? I don't remember there being any of that in it... Unless raptors appearing behind you when you picked up ammo was considered story. @___@
Kevin, you didn't tell the story of the Sim character you designed after your old roommate. And technically ants make colonies, not hives.
Har har.
I totally forgot about that little experiment...
I played Streets of Sim City, and it stands as my favorite Sim game. If you had the money to customize a car with the maximum numbers of machine guns, the game was incredible. That and hovering limousines getting shot down by rockets.
Good stuff.
Awesome podcast, made me smile \o/ so positive! Made my day. You're terrible people. I am so glad you mentioned Dwarf Fortress, this game is incredible ;D
I remember I started off with SimCity 2000 for Windows 3.11 ;D I LOVED reading the random newspaper articles
Then I had some fun with SimSafari when I was like 12
It was hard to get any games in Poland before that, anyway
Sims were terrible for me! I was sitting alone in my room having no friends, enjoying the building deisign possibilities and the game requires me to make tons of friends! I mean, HELL, I wanted to progress in business, money and design! It turned to real life so quickly, having my sims without any friends. T'was too much of a doll house for me then too.
i played the original SimCity in the 90's and until now i still play the latest version of SimCity~;~
